Teachers and learners use a great variety of tools and strategies to gather information about the learner’s progress and growth. We use different forms of assessment every day, where teachers and learners observe and evaluate their own and others’ work.
Formative assessments tell us about our current understanding and skill. Feedback from teachers and fellow students helps us to understand what we know and what we need to do next in order to keep building our understanding. Teachers use today’s formative feedback to shape tomorrow’s teaching so it fits student needs.
Red, Yellow, Green Check-In - Soluble or Insoluble?
Students had class time to assess their own understanding of this concept using a Red, Yellow, Green rubric. Please have your son or daughter share their Edmodo Assignment for this task to get a clear understanding of how they communicated their understanding and plans for review and/or enrichment. This has prepared them for the Summative Assessment tomorrow which will assess their knowledge on this concept.
Please view an example of the Formative Check-In, review and reflection.
